Wave Information

To have the entire race enter the water at once would be dangerous and frustrating for swimmers. Instead, the race is started in waves, or smaller groups of around 100 athletes. Individual race times are recorded using a small, plastic micro-chip that each athlete wears on an ankle. Your time is measured based on when your chip crosses the line, not by a stopwatch. There are several lines throughout the race that record your time as you cross, so your times will be posted for each leg of the race as well as your transition times.

The See Jane Tri Waves will be started about 5 minutes apart. They are organized by age-group, youngest to oldest. It is important for you to start with your assigned wave so that your start time is recorded correctly. See Jane Run Triathlon training team will NOT have their own wave. The waves will be organized by age as follows:

7:30   Early Start
7:40   50+
7:50   18 and under and relays
7:55   19 - 24
8:00   25 - 29
8:05   30 - 34
8:10   35 - 39
8:15   40 - 44
8:20   45 - 49

Early Start

We are committed to having every racer finish! Athletes with special needs and those concerned about being able to finish can request to start with the first wave at 7:30. The bicycle route has a 10:15 a.m. cutoff, as required by law enforcement managing traffic on the route. If you are worried you won't be able to finish the swim and bike in 1.75 to 2.25 hours (depending on your wave) please contact the race director at events@seejanerun.com to request a spot in the first wave.
